The St. Andrew’s School PTA is an organization comprising of both parents and teachers who share a common focus: to help our children enjoy the best academic and personal growth experiences by providing the tools necessary towards this growth.
We are a very active group, working eagerly to ensure that there are adequate facilities and a comfortable environment for our teachers and children. If we consider that our children spend one-third of their life at school, we can only deem it necessary to make this a home away from home.
One major fundraiser is held every school year, usually in the first term, followed by a Walkathon in the third term.
Due to the commitment undertaken by the PTA to assist with the furnishing of the new school building scheduled to open in June 2009, our drive to raise funds has been more aggressive than usual. With two very successful ventures for the school year thus far, we can only thank our parents and teachers for their endless support at our Back in Times party held at 51 degrees in November ’08, and ‘Fashion with a Purpose’ held in March ’09.
Dollar Day, a day cherished by our children, is held every Friday and our parents use this opportunity to raise funds for the PTA by creating a ‘tuck shop’ where the children experience a little independence while they go on a shopping spree purchasing a range of items such as fruit, doubles and pholourie, cakes, pies and snacks but maintaining a healthy balance.
Besides fund raising, our parents are given the opportunity to participate in school activities through class projects, outings and library/reading, just to name a few.
St. Andrew’s School welcomes and encourages our involvement, knowing that our presence makes a world of difference to our children.
Let us show the children by example that the key to success comes from cooperation, togetherness and team work. Together, we can ensure that their experience will always remain a fulfilling and memorable one.
