School Expansion Project

Who We Are?

Founded in 1946, St. Andrew’s was the vision of a group of parents who wished to see their children educated in a school which would provide “a sound general education of the highest order”.

School Expansion Project

The school started with 65 children in a single storey, four classroom building with 3 teachers.

Today, St. Andrew’s has grown to 336 students with a staff of 30 teachers and boasts a teacher pupil ratio of 1 teacher to 11 children, which is in keeping with the founders’ vision of maintaining small classes to ensure individualized attention.

School Expansion Project

St. Andrew’s prides itself on its ability to offer a broad curriculum which endeavors to meet the needs of individual students and prepares them not just to pass the SEA, but also to successfully cope with the demands of secondary school and beyond.

Our Vision Statement ...

School Expansion Project

St. Andrew’s is a progressive school that produces a caring, confident and responsible child.

Through our partnership with parents, we provide an enriching and disciplined learning environment that motivates each child to realize both his or her individual strengths and full potential.

St. Andrew’s also supports the development of social and moral values that allow the child to appreciate and respect diversity.

New Initiatives ...

Four major initiatives are planned:
  • The introduction of a third Prep 1 class
  • The introduction of a formal Art Room
  • The introduction of an expanded Spanish syllabus school-wide and a dedicated language lab/multi media room
  • A Community Sharing programme with neighbouring schools - facilities and best practices

The Costs involved ...

At present, we are looking at costs of approximately $5.5 million for our new proposed wing and infrastructure. This cost covers construction costs, professional fees and fixtures, fittings and equipment. In order to greenlight this project for commencement in 2008 we need to raise a minimum of 75% of the total amount stated above.

Proposed Project Timeline ...

  • We are aiming to break ground the first week of July 2008 and have the construction of the building frame finished by August 31st 2008
  • Internal work and fit out will continue (during school time and holidays) for the next 6 months and it is expected that all construction will be fully completed by the end of February 2009
  • Once that is completed the Science, Practical Math, Multi Media and AV rooms as well as the two Primary 3 classes will move either during the Easter Vacation or at the end of the following term June / July.
